Now marriage has been extended to same-sex couples, what does this mean for the future of civil partnerships?

Questions have been raised about the future of civil partnerships, as the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 passed through parliament. Do you think there is still a need for civil partnerships?
Prior to the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013, same sex couples who wished to form a legal relationship could not marry, but instead could form a civil partnership. This inequality has been addressed by the above Act, but its implementation raises interesting questions about the future of civil partnerships.
The government has launched a consultation to seek people’s views on the main options for future changes. You can respond on-line, by email or post, and the closing date for responses is 17 April 2014.
