New legal rights for others to accompany an expectant mother to ante-natal appointments 

Did you know that from 1 October 2014, an expectant father or the partner of a pregnant woman will be entitled to take unpaid time off work to accompany the woman to ante-natal appointments? Are you aware of new guidance released by BIS?

The end of Equality Impact Assessments? 

Is this the end of Equality Impact Assessments? In a speech to a CBI conference, David Cameron said ‘we are calling time on Equality Impact Assessments’. He said ‘You no longer have to do them if these issues have been properly considered...we don’t need all this extra tick-box stuff’.

Age discrimination ban 

People who believe they have been treated unfairly because of their age are now protected and have the right to bring a legal challenge, under new rules introduced on 1 October 2012. The introduction of the age discrimination ban is the final key part of the Equality Act 2010 to be implemented.
