EDI, British values and curriculum leadership

Curriculum leads are much more involved in inspection under the 2019 framework. Outstanding curriculum leads can fluently articulate intent for Equality, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) and British values. They can clearly explain how intent is implemented in their area. Are your curriculum leads prepared?

Curriculum leads are much more involved in inspection under the 2019 inspection framework. So it’s not surprising that one of my training workshops, specifically targeted at curriculum leads, has significantly gained in popularity. You can find more information below on my ‘EDI and British values; everything curriculum leads need to do’ workshop.

Why should your staff attend?

Do curriculum leads appreciate that ‘deep dives’ during inspection will reveal information on equality, diversity, inclusion (EDI) and British values? Are curriculum leads able to fluently articulate intent for EDI and British values? Can they clearly explain how intent is implemented in their area? How do curriculum leads provide clarity so that their staff avoid superficial, repetitive or tokenistic promotion of EDI and British values? Instead how do curriculum leads ensure that learners’ understanding is genuinely developed and deepened in their curriculum area?

Inspectors will talk to curriculum leads much more than in previous inspections. Inspectors will want to know what curriculum leads are doing, why they are doing it, how they are doing it and how curriculum leads know the impact of what they are doing. Are your curriculum leads prepared?

Updated with the very latest findings from Ofsted, this practical workshop shares best practice in the sector. It will support curriculum leads to become effective ‘change agents’ for their area.

Why should your organisation run this event?

This course will help your organisation to:

  • Build capacity, confidence and ability for curriculum leads to identify and promote outstanding practice.
  • Maximise opportunities to promote EDI and British values in the learner experience.
  • Drive up learner success, narrow achievement gaps and improve inspection outcomes.

Christine has met with many teams across college to help them understand how Equality and Diversity issues affect how they work. The work she has done has had real impact on the experience of our students.’

Lis Bates, Director, Chichester College

‘Christine came to our College to deliver training for our Curriculum staff. We received excellent feedback from staff, Christine was not only knowledgeable, but able to put across in an engaging delivery style the subject matter. I would have no hesitation in recommending her for any organisation wanting to make a difference’.

Greg Wood, Staff Development Manager, Leicester College
