Harriet Harman would bring back dual discrimination 

Harriet Harman has said that the Labour Party would implement the dual discrimination Regulations in the Equality Act if returned to government. She said that reintroducing the provisions, which were dropped by the coalition Government when the Equality Act came into force, would help address both age and sex discrimination that is facing older women. Caste discrimination in Britain – two new research reports 

Do your staff know what is meant by caste discrimination? The Equality and Human Rights Commission has published research reports into issues surrounding caste in Britain, to inform a new statutory law prohibiting discrimination on the grounds of caste. The Commission has said that discrimination against an individual because of caste in sectors such as education cannot be tolerated.

What is the percentage of disabled staff in your organisation?

A quick scan of published equality information reports on websites reveals a worrying figure for the number of disabled staff – between 2% and 6% on average. Since 20% of people of working age are covered by the definition of a disabled person, this is a significant equality ‘gap’, and a key equality objective for your organisation to address. What are you doing about this?
